Double Vision card art
Double Vision sits on the battlefield and copies the first instant or sorcery you cast each turn — no mana, no activation, just a free second spell every round. Five mana to land it is real, but Anhelo, the Painter can copy it into play for the cost of a creature, and even without that shortcut the effect is powerful enough to justify the investment.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Anhelo, the Painter

Anhelo, the Painter

56.7% of decks · synergy 0.54

Anhelo, the Painter's casualty mechanic already copies instants and sorceries, and Double Vision stacks directly on top of that — the first spell you cast each turn can trigger both, turning a single Fireball or Mizzium Mortars into three separate instances of damage.

02
Lorehold, the Historian

Lorehold, the Historian

47.2% of decks · synergy 0.45

Lorehold, the Historian wants to cast big, splashy spells and Double Vision doubles the mileage on every one of them, making each removal spell or finisher do twice the work without spending additional resources.

03
Kalamax, the Stormsire

Kalamax, the Stormsire

40.0% of decks · synergy 0.38

Kalamax, the Stormsire copies instants whenever it attacks tapped, and Double Vision adds a second copy on top of that, meaning a single Lightning Bolt or Chaos Warp during a combat step can resolve three times across the table.

05
Imodane, the Pyrohammer

Imodane, the Pyrohammer

30.8% of decks · synergy 0.29

Imodane, the Pyrohammer redirects single-target damage spells to all opponents, and Double Vision means you fire that redirection twice per turn — a Bolt to one player becomes two Bolts to everyone.

Double Vision is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but Commander is the only format where it earns a slot. In competitive Constructed, five mana for a symmetry-breaking enchantment that does nothing the turn it enters is far too slow — Modern and Legacy want their payoffs on turn two, not turn five. Pioneer has more room for clunky enchantments, but dedicated copy-spell shells there prefer cheaper, more reliable pieces. In Commander, the calculus flips: the game goes long enough that Double Vision will copy three, four, five spells before anyone answers it, and in a multiplayer pod there are fewer dedicated enchantment answers per seat.

Price Context

Current price

$1.79 cheap tier

At $1.79, Double Vision sits in the cheap tier and is a straightforward include for any spell-copy Commander deck that doesn't already own a Strionic Resonator or Lithoform Engine. The price is unlikely to move dramatically given the card's narrow but consistent demand.
