Path of Annihilation wipes the board of everything with power 3 or less every time it triggers — and in the right shell, it triggers every turn. The cost is real: five mana and a creature to sacrifice, which means you need an engine like Eldrazi Displacer or a payoff commander like Ulalek, Fused Atrocity to make the math work.

Ulalek, Fused Atrocity
Ulalek, Fused Atrocity turns every Eldrazi cast into a copy trigger, and Path of Annihilation is a natural fit because the deck is already stacking high-power Eldrazi that survive the sweep while repeatedly clearing away tokens, mana dorks, and utility creatures on the other side of the table.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Path of Annihilation actually gets to do its job — multiplayer boards are dense with small creatures, and a recurring wipe that leaves your fatties untouched generates massive asymmetric value. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but irrelevant; five mana and a creature sacrifice is not a rate those formats will pay for a conditional board wipe when cheaper, faster removal exists. Oathbreaker is the one other format where it might see fringe play in an Eldrazi shell, but the 60-card, faster-paced game still punishes the setup cost. This is a Commander card.

Current price
$0.32 bulk tier
At $0.32, Path of Annihilation is deep bulk — easy to pick up as a throw-in or from a bulk bin. That price is stable; it's not a card with crossover demand in competitive formats, so don't expect movement in either direction.
