Impact Tremors card art
Impact Tremors turns every token, every creature ETB, every Storm Herd into a ping — and those pings stack up faster than opponents expect from a two-mana enchantment. The Locust God draws three cards and deals three damage before anyone attacks; that's the card in a sentence.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
The Locust God

The Locust God

80.7% of decks · synergy 0.73

The Locust God creates an Insect on every draw trigger, and Impact Tremors converts each of those Insects into a free damage pulse — a single wheel can end the game before combat.

02
Norin the Wary

Norin the Wary

95.7% of decks · synergy 0.71

Norin the Wary blinks out of play on every spell and every attack, re-entering the battlefield each upkeep, and Impact Tremors turns that endless loop of leaves-and-returns into a relentless one-damage clock that requires zero other setup.

03
Ovika, Enigma Goliath

Ovika, Enigma Goliath

73.1% of decks · synergy 0.65

Ovika, Enigma Goliath spits out a Goblin token for each generic mana in every noncreature spell you cast, so Impact Tremors converts a single splashy spell into a burst of simultaneous pings that bypass blockers entirely.

04
Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon

Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon

80.8% of decks · synergy 0.65

Anim Pakal, Thousandth Moon generates a batch of Gnome tokens each time a creature attacks, and Impact Tremors fires once per token — meaning a swung-out board drains the table before damage is even calculated.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict

oathbreaker

Commander is where Impact Tremors does its best work: three opponents means every ETB trigger deals three damage instead of one, and token-doubling effects that are common in the format turn a modest enchantment into a game-ending engine. In 60-card formats like Modern and Pioneer it's legal but narrow — creature-token strategies exist, but Impact Tremors faces stiffer competition from direct damage payoffs that don't require a board state. Pauper is the one non-Commander home where it genuinely thrives, pairing with token spam and goblin synergies in a format too low-powered to answer a two-mana enchantment cleanly. Legacy and Vintage have the card legal but ignore it; the power ceiling in those formats is simply too high for a one-at-a-time pinger.

Budget Alternatives

Cheaper options that do most of the same work

Purphoros, God of the Forge does the same job for two damage per trigger instead of one, but costs several dollars more and requires red devotion to threaten as a creature — Impact Tremors asks nothing beyond entering the battlefield. Warstorm Surge and Pandemonium operate on similar ETB-damage logic at higher mana costs, making them worse in fast games but potentially more punishing per individual creature in lower-token shells.

Price Context

Current price

$9.62 mid tier

At $9.62, Impact Tremors sits in the mid tier — noticeable for a common, but justified by how frequently it closes games in token and ETB strategies. The price reflects years of Commander demand rather than scarcity, and it's unlikely to soften meaningfully given how broadly applicable it is across red creature-generating commanders.
