Mystic Reflection turns the next creature or planeswalker that enters the battlefield into a copy of any target nonlegendary creature — cast it with Foretell or stack it on top of a token swarm and the board state warps immediately. The cost is minimal: two mana up front, one to foretell, and the payoff scales absurdly with anything that floods tokens, which is why you see it in decks that win by making Biovisionary copies or alongside Ranar the Ever-Watchful generating a stream of Spirit tokens that suddenly become something much more threatening.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Ranar the Ever-Watchful
Ranar the Ever-Watchful creates a Spirit token every time a card is foretold or a spell is cast from exile, and Mystic Reflection can be foretold cheaply — so Ranar effectively turns each subsequent Spirit into a copy of whatever the most dangerous creature on board is.

Gor Muldrak, Amphinologist
Gor Muldrak, Amphinologist forces each player to create Salamander Warrior tokens on their upkeep, and Mystic Reflection redirects those incoming tokens to enter as copies of a power creature instead — hijacking the mandatory token generation that Gor Muldrak hands out to everyone.

Esix, Fractal Bloom
Esix, Fractal Bloom already replaces the first token you create each turn with a copy of any creature, and Mystic Reflection layers on top by pre-shaping what future tokens become — together they give fractal-token shells redundant copy effects that stack rather than compete.

Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer
Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer wants a board of identical tokens to flip into something lethal on attack, and Mystic Reflection is the cheapest way to make a fresh wave of tokens enter as a specific threat before Brudiclad's trigger homogenizes the rest.

Adrix and Nev, Twincasters
Adrix and Nev, Twincasters doubles every token created, so a Mystic Reflection that shapes one wave of tokens into a powerful creature effectively gets doubled by the commanders themselves — the math on board presence compounds fast.
Format Analysis

|---|---|
| commander | legal |

| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Mystic Reflection is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it's almost entirely a Commander card in practice. In 60-card formats the effect is too slow and too conditional — you need a creature entering to trigger it, which requires sequencing that competitive Legacy and Modern decks can't reliably set up while also advancing a winning game plan. Commander is where Mystic Reflection is genuinely powerful: multiplayer games produce constant creature entries, token strategies are ubiquitous, and the Foretell mechanic means you can pre-load it on turn two and hold it as a one-mana ambush. In Oathbreaker it has niche applications in token-heavy signatures, but the smaller game size limits how often you'll find the stacked trigger you need.

Pricing data isn't available for Mystic Reflection right now, so check Scryfall or your preferred retailer for the current number. It has historically been an affordable pickup given its niche appeal, but demand spikes in blue token and clone shells keep it from bottoming out entirely.
