Consecrate Land card art
Consecrate Land makes one of your lands indestructible and immune to enchantments — for one white mana, it shuts down Spreading Seas, Wasteland, and Field of Ruin cold. If you're running a land that wins the game, this is the cheapest lock you can put on it.

Consecrate Land is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, though it sees virtually no play outside Commander. In Legacy and Vintage the threat profile rarely targets individual lands in ways that demand a dedicated protection piece — those formats move too fast for a one-mana enchantment to pull weight. Commander is where Consecrate Land earns its slot: the game goes long, land destruction and land-turning effects like Annex or Spreading Seas are real, and protecting a combo land like Gaea's Cradle or Dark Depths is often worth a card. In Modern it's technically castable but rarely correct — run it only if your local meta is full of Blood Moon and Ghost Quarter.

Budget Alternatives

Cheaper options that do most of the same work

Consecrate Land is genuinely hard to replace because no other card combines indestructibility and enchantment immunity on a land for one mana — Diplomatic Immunity gets close for creatures, but nothing mirrors it exactly for lands. Sejiri Steppe gives temporary protection at flash speed for free if you need a budget stand-in, and Sylvan Safekeeper sacrifices other lands to protect your key one, though both require more setup and don't lock the land down permanently the way Consecrate Land does.

Price Context

Current price

$35.88 premium tier

At $35.88, Consecrate Land sits firmly in the premium tier — expensive for a one-mana aura with no immediate board impact. The price is driven almost entirely by scarcity given its limited print run, and while demand from Cradle and Dark Depths decks keeps a floor under it, you're paying a steep premium for a narrow effect.
