Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth converts all lands to Swamps, Kormus Bell converts all Swamps to 1/1 creatures, and Linvala, Keeper of Silence then bars opponent-controlled creatures from activating abilities — which includes tapping for mana. The lock is asymmetric only if the pilot's own lands aren't affected, so any white deck running this needs a plan to either protect its mana base or win immediately after assembling.
Recipe
How it works
01
Prerequisites
—
02
Steps
- Urborg turns all lands into Swamps.
- Kormus Bell turns all swamps into creatures.
- Linvala prevents your opponent' creatures from activating their abilities, including mana abilities.
03
Result
Opponents can't tap lands for mana; Lock; Mass Land Denial
Variations
Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines
Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite replaces Linvala if the goal is permanent destruction rather than a tap-lock — all opponent lands become 0/0s and die outright. Null Rod and Stony Silence don't replicate this effect, so Linvala is the correct piece; the only real swap is whether to lock or destroy, and Elesh Norn ends the game faster.
