Lake of the Dead sacrifices Drownyard Temple for four black mana; Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is the linchpin that makes Drownyard Temple a Swamp, satisfying Lake's sacrifice requirement. Stone-Seeder Hierophant untaps Lake of the Dead on each land ETB, and Drownyard Temple pays three of the four mana to return itself from the graveyard — netting one black mana per loop and triggering landfall every iteration.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

02

Steps

  1. Activate Lake of the Dead's second ability by tapping it and sacrificing Drownyard Temple, as it's a Swamp due to Urborg, adding {B}{B}{B}{B}.
  2. Activate Stone-Seeder Hierophant by tapping it, untapping Lake of the Dead.
  3. Activate Drownyard Temple's second ability by paying {3}, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
  4. When Drownyard Temple enters, Stone-Seeder Hierophant triggers, untapping it.
  5. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite black mana; Infinite landfall triggers

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

The combo collapses without Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth — it's the only piece with no clean substitute. Amulet of Vigor is not a replacement but pairs well, letting Drownyard Temple enter untapped to immediately fuel costs. Close with Retreat to Hagra, Ob Nixilis, the Fallen, or any landfall payable creature already in a black-green landfall build — the infinite landfall triggers do the work.
