Kodama of the East Tree's triggered ability puts Ghost Town onto the battlefield for free each time another permanent enters; Ghost Town returns itself to hand at zero cost, resetting the loop. Felidar Retreat converts every Ghost Town landfall trigger into a creature token, and each token re-triggers Kodama, keeping the chain self-sustaining after Bloodstained Mire pays the one-time entry tax of 1 life. The combo fires on any opponent's turn — the sorcery-speed restriction that kills most Kodama lines doesn't apply here.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

It is not your turn. There is a land card in your library that can be fetched using Bloodstained Mire. Your life total is at least 2.

02

Steps

  1. Fetch a land using Bloodstained Mire.
  2. When the fetched land enters, Felidar Retreat and Kodama trigger.
  3. Resolve the Kodama trigger, putting Ghost Town from your hand onto the battlefield.
  4. When Ghost Town enters, Kodama and Felidar Retreat trigger.
  5. Holding priority, activate Ghost Town's first abiltiy by tapping it, adding {C}.
  6. Activate Ghost Town's second ability by paying {0}, returning it from the battlefield to your hand.
  7. Resolve the Felidar Retreat from step 4, creating a token.
  8. When the token enters, Kodama triggers, putting Ghost Town from your hand onto the battlefield.
  9. When Ghost Town enters, Felidar Retreat triggers.
  10. Repeat from step 5.

03

Result

Infinite ETB; Infinite colorless mana; Infinite creature tokens; Infinite landfall triggers

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Any fetchland with a legal target replaces Bloodstained Mire as the ignition piece — Windswept Heath and Wooded Foothills both fit the green-white identity cleanly. Retreat to Coralhelm is the blue analog to Felidar Retreat in other shells, but within green-white, Felidar Retreat is the call. The loop produces infinite tokens but needs an outlet like Craterhoof Behemoth or a damage-on-token-entry effect to close the game immediately.
