Kodama of the East Tree + Ghost Town + Arid Mesa + Field of the Dead

4-card combo · G

Verdict

Yes — this 4-card loop generates infinite Zombie tokens and infinite landfall triggers on any opponent's turn, as long as the land count and naming conditions are met.

Arid Mesa's fetch triggers both Field of the Dead and Kodama of the East Tree; Kodama puts Ghost Town onto the battlefield for free, which loops back to hand at zero cost while Field of the Dead keeps cranking out 2/2 Zombies. The engine runs entirely on an opponent's turn, which sidesteps summoning sickness and most sorcery-speed interaction. Green landfall commanders — Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait, Ob Nixilis, the Fallen, or The Gitrog Monster splashing green — are the natural homes.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

It is not your turn. There is a land card in your library that can be fetched using Arid Mesa. Your life total is at least 2. You control seven or more lands with different names.

02

Steps

  1. Fetch a land using Arid Mesa.
  2. When the fetched land enters, Field of the Dead and Kodama trigger.
  3. Resolve the Kodama trigger, putting Ghost Town from your hand onto the battlefield.
  4. When Ghost Town enters, Kodama and Field of the Dead trigger.
  5. Holding priority, activate Ghost Town's first abiltiy by tapping it, adding {C}.
  6. Activate Ghost Town's second ability by paying {0}, returning it from the battlefield to your hand.
  7. Resolve the Field of the Dead from step 4, creating a token.
  8. When the token enters, Kodama triggers, putting Ghost Town from your hand onto the battlefield.
  9. When Ghost Town enters, Field of the Dead triggers.
  10. Repeat from step 5.

03

Result

Infinite ETB; Infinite colorless mana; Infinite creature tokens; Infinite landfall triggers

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Any fetchland that finds a basic works in place of Arid Mesa, so Windswept Heath, Wooded Foothills, or Prismatic Vista all slot in identically. The seven-land naming requirement is the real friction point — run a high density of differently-named utility lands like Boseiju, Who Endures and Bojuka Bog to hit the threshold earlier. The token flood wins the game on its own, but a free Craterhoof Behemoth off Kodama during the loop ends it immediately.
