Elsha, Threefold Master card art
Elsha, Threefold Master lets you cascade into free spells off the top of your library whenever a monk you control attacks, turning a combat step into a spell storm that snowballs immediately and without setup. The catch is that she costs five mana and needs monks on board to matter, so she's a build-around, not a value staple — but pair her with Breath of Fury or slip her into The Archimandrite and the engine is genuinely broken.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
The Archimandrite

The Archimandrite

67.8% of decks · synergy 0.63

The Archimandrite is Elsha, Threefold Master's natural home — it generates the monk tokens that trigger her attack ability, turning every combat into a chain of free spells that grows exponentially as the token count rises.

02
Narset, Enlightened Exile

Narset, Enlightened Exile

51.9% of decks · synergy 0.47

Narset, Enlightened Exile wants noncreature spells cast for free off attacks, and Elsha, Threefold Master doubles down on that theme by adding a second free-cast trigger on every swinging monk, stacking the two engines into one overwhelming assault.

03
Shiko and Narset, Unified

Shiko and Narset, Unified

45.8% of decks · synergy 0.41

Shiko and Narset, Unified care about casting noncreature spells and going wide with attackers, and Elsha, Threefold Master plugs directly into both halves — more attackers means more triggers, and every free cast feeds the commanders' payoffs.

04
Narset, Jeskai Waymaster

Narset, Jeskai Waymaster

16.5% of decks · synergy 0.12

Narset, Jeskai Waymaster rewards stacking noncreature spells cast during combat, and Elsha, Threefold Master supplies exactly that by cascading off each monk attack, giving Waymaster redundancy on the free-cast effect it most wants.

Format Analysis

oathbreaker

Commander is where Elsha, Threefold Master does her real work — the 100-card singleton format gives her access to enough monks, attack payoffs, and Breath of Fury-style combo pieces to build a focused engine, and the multiplayer table gives that engine time to set up. She's technically legal in Legacy and Vintage, but five-mana creatures that require a specific creature type to function don't register in those formats, where games end before she stabilizes. Oathbreaker is plausible as a signature-spell-generating machine, but the 20-life starting total compresses the window. Play Elsha, Threefold Master in Commander; everywhere else is a thought experiment.

Price Context

Current price

$0.99 bulk tier

At $0.99, Elsha, Threefold Master sits in bulk rare territory despite being the linchpin of several genuine combo lines. That price reflects limited cross-format demand rather than limited power — if monk-tribal or attack-trigger shells gain traction, this is the kind of build-around that moves fast from a dollar to five.
