Bloodstained Mire kicks off the loop by fetching any land, which simultaneously triggers Kodama of the East Tree and Zendikar's Roil; Kodama puts Ghost Town into play for free, and Ghost Town's second ability bounces itself back to hand at zero cost before the next Zendikar's Roil trigger resolves, seeding the next Kodama trigger. Because the combo only functions during an opponent's turn, it demands patience — but the payoff is every Zendikar's Roil trigger resolving with a 2/2 Elemental token, each of which feeds Kodama again. The whole engine lives in green's landfall shell with Aesi, Tyrant of Gyr Strait or Tatyova, Benthic Druid as commanders.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

It is not your turn. There is a land card in your library that can be fetched using Bloodstained Mire. Your life total is at least 2.

02

Steps

  1. Fetch a land using Bloodstained Mire.
  2. When the fetched land enters, Zendikar's Roil and Kodama trigger.
  3. Resolve the Kodama trigger, putting Ghost Town from your hand onto the battlefield.
  4. When Ghost Town enters, Kodama and Zendikar's Roil trigger.
  5. Holding priority, activate Ghost Town's first abiltiy by tapping it, adding {C}.
  6. Activate Ghost Town's second ability by paying {0}, returning it from the battlefield to your hand.
  7. Resolve the Zendikar's Roil from step 4, creating a token.
  8. When the token enters, Kodama triggers, putting Ghost Town from your hand onto the battlefield.
  9. When Ghost Town enters, Zendikar's Roil triggers.
  10. Repeat from step 5.

03

Result

Infinite ETB; Infinite colorless mana; Infinite creature tokens; Infinite landfall triggers

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Perilous Forays swaps Bloodstained Mire as the loop starter if the fetch-land slot is already burned or unavailable, sacrificing a creature to find a basic and restart the chain. The infinite tokens win on their own with a Altar of Dementia or Purphoros, God of the Forge already on board, but green alone needs a secondary outlet — Shaman of Forgotten Ways or Craterhoof Behemoth are the cleanest closers once the token count is arbitrarily large.
