Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward + Displace + Eternal Witness

3-card combo · GWU

Verdict

Yes — this 3-card loop generates infinite ETB, LTB, and Soldier tokens in any Bant shell that can float three mana through Abdel Adrian's own exiles.

Displace blinks Abdel Adrian, which returns Eternal Witness to the battlefield to recover Displace from the graveyard while also returning whatever mana-producing permanents were exiled, resetting the engine. The trick is the sequencing: tap mana rocks before Abdel Adrian's exile trigger resolves, then let him bank those tapped permanents as Soldier tokens while the loop refunds itself. Any Bant commander that cares about ETB triggers — Chulane, Teller of Tales, Roon of the Hidden Realm, or Abdel Adrian himself at the helm — can close the game immediately once the loop is live.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

You have any number of other nonland permanents that enter the battlefield untapped, and that can collectively tap to produce enough mana to cast Displace exiled by Abdel Adrian.

02

Steps

  1. Cast Displace by paying its mana cost, blinking Abdel Adrian.
  2. Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, returning Eternal Witness and all other cards that were exiled with it to the battlefield.
  3. Abdel Adrian and Eternal Witness trigger.
  4. Resolve the Eternal Witness trigger, returning Displace from your graveyard to your hand.
  5. Holding priority, activate any number of nonland permanents you control by tapping them, adding at least enough mana to cast Displace.
  6. Resolve the Abdel Adrian trigger, exiling Eternal Witness and the mana-producing permanents until Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, and creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token for each permanent exiled this way.
  7. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite LTB; Infinite ETB; Infinite storm count; Infinite creature tokens; Infinite blinking of nonland permanents; Infinite magecraft triggers

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Ghostly Flicker is a direct swap for Displace, identical function at the same mana cost, and having both available makes the combo significantly harder to disrupt. Conjurer's Closet or Conjurer's Bauble can initiate the same recursive chain if Displace is unavailable. Altar of the Brood or Impact Tremors closes the game cleanly off the infinite ETB triggers; without a damage or mill outlet already on the battlefield, infinite Soldiers still need an attack step.
