Commander is the obvious home for Will, Scion of Peace — the format's longer game gives life-gain decks the time to accumulate large totals and make the discount consistently backbreaking. In Modern and Pioneer it's a fringe piece in Soul Sisters variants, where a single combat step can discount it to nothing, but the payoff density in those formats doesn't reward the setup the way Commander does.
