White Sun's Zenith card art
White Sun's Zenith floods the board with X 2/2 Cat tokens at instant speed and shuffles itself back into your library, making it both a one-shot army and a reusable late-game threat. The mana cost is real — you need a lot of it to get meaningful value — but in Cat tribal or token-doubling shells that already want Mayael's Aria triggers or Ajani, Nacatl Pariah synergies, the ceiling is high enough to justify the slot.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01

Ajani, Nacatl Pariah

57.5% of decks · synergy 0.56

Ajani, Nacatl Pariah's back half creates Cat tokens directly, and White Sun's Zenith dumps a wave of them into play at instant speed to trigger lion-army payoffs — the two cards are pulling in exactly the same direction.

02
Arahbo, the First Fang

Arahbo, the First Fang

57.8% of decks · synergy 0.55

Arahbo, the First Fang rewards you for flooding the board with Cats, and White Sun's Zenith is one of the cleanest ways to produce a critical mass of them in a single activation.

04
Neyali, Suns' Vanguard

Neyali, Suns' Vanguard

41.1% of decks · synergy 0.39

Neyali, Suns' Vanguard gives token creatures double strike, which turns a pile of 2/2 Cats from White Sun's Zenith into a lethal swing almost immediately after they enter.

05
Rin and Seri, Inseparable

Rin and Seri, Inseparable

35.2% of decks · synergy 0.32

Rin and Seri, Inseparable triggers off each Cat you cast and deals damage based on how many Cats you control, so the token flood from White Sun's Zenith pays dividends both on entry and in your damage math.

oathbreaker

Commander is where White Sun's Zenith actually lives — the longer games, higher mana totals, and token-tribal commanders give it the room it needs to generate real board presence. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but functionally unplayed; five mana for two 2/2s is far below the power threshold those formats demand, and no competitive shell wants a sorcery-speed payoff that requires ten-plus mana to be impressive. Oathbreaker is a reasonable home for the same reasons Commander is — planeswalker signatures lean toward big splashy spells, and the shuffle-back clause means you can potentially cast it multiple times in a longer game.

Price Context

Current price

$0.34 bulk tier

At $0.34, White Sun's Zenith is deep bulk — easy to acquire and easy to cut without financial remorse. The price reflects its narrow appeal rather than power level; in the Cat tribal decks that actually want it, it's well worth the slot.
