Wayta, Trainer Prodigy card art
Wayta, Trainer Prodigy lets you activate a creature's fight ability once per turn for free — no mana, just the trigger — which turns fight-based engines into recurring removal machines at zero ongoing cost. The catch is that she needs the ability to already exist on a permanent you control, so she's a force multiplier rather than an engine in isolation; pair her with Cacophodon or slot her under Jared Carthalion, True Heir and she immediately earns her roster spot.

Jared Carthalion, True Heir wants his counters managed carefully, and Wayta, Trainer Prodigy lets him fight for free each turn cycle — clearing blockers and triggering counter-payoffs without taxing the mana base.

Wayta, Trainer Prodigy is a Commander card through and through — her value compounds over multiple turns against multiple opponents, which is exactly the environment she was designed for. In Legacy and Vintage she's technically legal but functionally irrelevant; a three-mana 3/3 with a conditional fight trigger doesn't compete in those formats. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander 60-card-variant where she could see niche play, but the pool of fight-enabling permanents is narrow enough that most Oathbreaker pilots won't bother. Stick her in the 99 or the command zone of a Naya or Gruul-adjacent Commander deck and she performs exactly as advertised.

Price Context

Current price

$0.36 bulk tier

At $0.36, Wayta, Trainer Prodigy sits firmly in bulk territory, which makes sense for a card with a narrow but real niche. Bulk rares with genuine combo applications tend to hold a floor rather than crater further, so the price is stable even if it's never climbing.
