Transcendence flips life loss into life gain for its controller — and hands that same cursed enchantment to an opponent, it becomes a death sentence they can't easily shake. Zedruu the Greathearted and Iroh, Tea Master are the natural homes: both want cheap permanents to donate, and Transcendence is one of the few gifts that kills the recipient.

Transcendence is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but competitive Legacy and Vintage have zero interest in a three-mana enchantment with no immediate board impact. Commander is the only format where Transcendence does real work: multiplayer means you can donate it to one player while staying safe yourself, and the format's slower pace gives you time to set up the kill. Oathbreaker is a functional home too, especially under a Zedruu-style signature spell package, but the smaller life totals make the effect less dramatic.

Cheaper options that do most of the same work
There's no card that replicates Transcendence exactly — the donate-and-kill angle is mostly unique to it. Lich's Mastery offers a similarly dangerous enchantment to pass around, though it draws cards on life loss rather than converting it, which makes it a worse kill piece and a better gift for disrupting life-gain decks.
