Seasons Past returns one card of each mana value from your graveyard to hand — breadth that compounds fast in any engine that fills the yard quickly. The six-mana cost would be prohibitive if the card didn't also shuffle itself back in, making it a repeatable recursion engine rather than a one-shot; pair it with something like Rashmi, Eternities Crafter or a Time Warp loop and the game rarely ends for your opponents.

Rashmi, Eternities Crafter
Rashmi, Eternities Crafter's free-cast triggers generate the card velocity to fill multiple mana-value slots in the graveyard quickly, which is exactly the condition Seasons Past needs to return four or five cards at once — and once Seasons Past is back in the library, the engine resets.

Seasons Past is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it belongs in Commander above all others — the singleton rule means you never draw it twice, and the self-shuffle clause converts that weakness into a feature, giving you a recursive value engine rather than a dead topdeck. In Legacy and Vintage, six mana is a steep ask in formats where the game often ends by turn three or four, and the effect is powerful but too slow to compete with the raw efficiency of the format staples. Modern and Pioneer are theoretically viable homes, but the same speed problem applies — Seasons Past wants a controlling, grindy game that those formats rarely deliver.

Price data for Seasons Past isn't currently available in the system, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for the current market price before buying. Given its niche but dedicated Commander fanbase and the self-shuffle loop it enables, it tends to hold modest value rather than spiking hard — it's not a bulk rare, but it's rarely a budget obstacle either.
