Metallurgic Summonings card art
Metallurgic Summonings turns every instant and sorcery into a Construct token sized to match it, then offers a second chapter — sacrifice six artifacts to recover your entire graveyard of instants and sorceries. The five-mana entry cost is real, but in a shell like Hinata, Dawn-Crowned where spells routinely cost two or three mana to cast, the tokens compound fast enough that Mythos of Illuna alone can drop a 7/7 and refuel the hand.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Hinata, Dawn-Crowned

Hinata, Dawn-Crowned

48.9% of decks · synergy 0.47

Hinata, Dawn-Crowned slashes the cost of every multi-target spell in the deck, which means Metallurgic Summonings is churning out large Constructs for one or two mana — the discount applies to the spell's cost, not the token's power, so you get oversized bodies at a fraction of the rate.

02
Quandrix, the Proof

Quandrix, the Proof

32.5% of decks · synergy 0.32

Quandrix, the Proof rewards casting instants and sorceries repeatedly, and Metallurgic Summonings converts that volume directly into a board — every copy, every kicked spell, every modal piece adds another token, giving the deck a go-wide axis it would otherwise lack.

03
Magnus the Red

Magnus the Red

33.1% of decks · synergy 0.30

Magnus the Red scales his own ability off the number of spells cast, and Metallurgic Summonings layers a parallel token engine on top — each instant or sorcery that fuels Magnus's pump effect also drops a Construct, meaning the board grows in two directions at once.

04
Anhelo, the Painter

Anhelo, the Painter

23.8% of decks · synergy 0.23

Anhelo, the Painter copies the first instant or sorcery each turn, and Metallurgic Summonings counts each copy as a separate spell trigger — a single copied spell drops two Constructs, effectively doubling the enchantment's token output without any extra investment.

05
Eluge, the Shoreless Sea

Eluge, the Shoreless Sea

22.1% of decks · synergy 0.19

Eluge, the Shoreless Sea cares about casting noncreature spells and generates its own cascade of value, making Metallurgic Summonings a natural complement — every instant or sorcery that advances Eluge's plan also builds a board of tokens sized to threaten combat.

Format Analysis

oathbreaker

Metallurgic Summonings is a Commander card first and foremost — five mana for a passive enchantment is a tempo concession that multiplayer games can absorb, and the self-recur ability becomes genuinely broken when a 100-card deck has stocked a graveyard over ten or twelve turns. In Pioneer and Modern it's fringe at best: the token payoff is too slow against linear aggro, and spell-combo decks in those formats are trying to win the turn they go off, not build a board over several. Legacy and Vintage have access to it but have no reason to run it over faster engines. Metallurgic Summonings lives and dies in Commander, where a five-mana enchantment has time to recoup its cost and where sixty instants and sorceries in the graveyard is a realistic setup for the rebound ability.

Price Context

Current price

$1.14 cheap tier

At $1.14, Metallurgic Summonings sits in the bulk-rare tier — easy to pick up without thinking twice. It sees consistent Commander play in spell-heavy builds, so the floor is stable, but demand isn't concentrated enough to push it higher.
