Hivestone

Hivestone is a Commander card through and through — the Sliver tribal archetype has enough critical mass in 100-card singleton to make converting non-Slivers worthwhile, and the political downside of buffing opponents is a real cost worth building around rather than ignoring. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but irrelevant; competitive Sliver lists there want pure density, not a fragile artifact that gifts opponents Sliver synergies. Modern is the same story. Hivestone finds its niche almost exclusively in EDH, where the payoff for suddenly making your entire board Slivers — including commanders that wouldn't otherwise qualify — is strong enough to justify the two-mana investment and the symmetry risk.
