Commander is where Hatchery Sliver actually sees play — Sliver tribal is almost exclusively an EDH archetype, and the token generation scales well when you're casting multiple Slivers per turn off The First Sliver or similar engines. In Legacy and Vintage, Hatchery Sliver is technically legal but has never found a competitive slot; Sliver decks in those formats either end the game on the spot with Sliver Legion or Sliver Hivelord packages, or go for faster synergies that don't require a five-mana setup piece. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander — fine in a Sliver shell, irrelevant everywhere else.

Sliver Hive produces a colorless Sliver token for three mana at instant speed and doesn't ask you to spend five mana on a creature that dies to removal, making it the most direct replacement for what Hatchery Sliver does at a fraction of the price. Sliver Gravemother offers a different angle — it doesn't make tokens on cast, but it recycles Slivers from exile and puts a creature into play, which covers the board-flooding role in longer games without requiring Hatchery Sliver's specific cost.
