Dictate of Karametra doubles every player's mana production the instant it resolves — flash lets you drop it on an opponent's upkeep so you're first to exploit the extra mana. The cost is real: symmetrical effects in a four-player game mean three opponents benefit too, so you need a payoff ready, whether that's Magus of the Candelabra to bank unused mana or Yurlok of Scorch Thrash to punish anyone who can't spend it.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Yurlok of Scorch Thrash
Yurlok of Scorch Thrash turns unspent mana into damage, so Dictate of Karametra flooding opponents with more mana than they can use becomes a direct kill condition — the symmetry stops being a downside the moment your opponents can't drain their pools.

Phelddagrif
Phelddagrif runs a politics-and-group-hug shell where handing opponents resources earns goodwill and protects you; Dictate of Karametra fits perfectly as a high-value gift that keeps Phelddagrif's table-wide generosity engine churning.

Gluntch, the Bestower
Gluntch, the Bestower already rewards opponents for targeting the right player with bonuses, and Dictate of Karametra layers on additional mana gifts that keep the whole table swimming in resources — exactly the kind of overwhelming generosity Gluntch decks use to survive long enough to close out the game.
Format Analysis

| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |

| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Dictate of Karametra actually belongs — the flash timing, the political dimensions of a symmetrical effect, and the payoff commanders built around mana-flooding or punishing waste all exist in this format. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's technically legal but has never found a home; symmetrical ramp at five mana is far too slow against those formats' threat density, and there's no commander-style payoff to justify the awkwardness. Oathbreaker shares enough of Commander's DNA that dedicated mana-doubling oathbreakers can use it, but the card pool is narrow enough that it remains a fringe inclusion there too.

Current price
$0.89 bulk tier
At $0.89, Dictate of Karametra sits firmly in bulk territory despite being a genuine build-around in the right Commander shell. It's a safe pickup — low enough that price movement is unlikely to matter, and its niche demand from Yurlok and group-hug decks keeps it from dropping further.
