Ashaya, Soul of the Wild
Legendary Creature — Elemental
Ashaya's power and toughness are each equal to the number of lands you control.
Nontoken creatures you control are Forest lands in addition to their other types. (They're still affected by summoning sickness.)

Ashaya, Soul of the Wild turns every nontoken creature you control into a Forest, which means mana dorks untap themselves through effects like Quirion Ranger and the whole board suddenly interacts with landfall triggers — the engine is real. The cost is a five-mana legendary that does nothing the turn it arrives and folds to a single removal spell before you untap.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Zimone, Mystery Unraveler
Zimone, Mystery Unraveler runs Ashaya, Soul of the Wild in over 85% of its builds because creatures counting as Forests lets Zimone's land-drop triggers fire off creature casts, collapsing the distinction between the creature and land halves of the deck into a single self-reinforcing loop.

Bumi, Unleashed
Bumi, Unleashed wants every creature on board to double as a land, and Ashaya, Soul of the Wild delivers exactly that — suddenly Bumi's bounce-and-replay effects generate landfall triggers at will.

Jyoti, Moag Ancient
Ashaya, Soul of the Wild is a near-lock in Jyoti, Moag Ancient decks because creatures entering as Forests stack directly with Jyoti's landfall payoffs, turning a wide board into a stream of triggers.

Omnath, Locus of the Roil
Omnath, Locus of the Roil rewards every land entering the battlefield, and Ashaya, Soul of the Wild converts each creature cast into an additional landfall event — the two cards multiply each other's output immediately.

Lumra, Bellow of the Woods
Lumra, Bellow of the Woods cares deeply about lands hitting the battlefield, and Ashaya, Soul of the Wild ensures every creature entering counts toward that total, dramatically inflating Lumra's trigger count over the course of a game.

Commander is where Ashaya, Soul of the Wild does its best work — the singleton format's creature-dense green strategies give it a wide board to convert into Forests, and the longer game gives the engine time to pay off. In Modern and Legacy, a five-mana creature competing against faster threats faces a steep clock; it sees minimal play there outside of niche Arbor Elf-style untap brews. Pioneer is similarly inhospitable — the format's removal density and aggro speed punish a do-nothing five-drop. Ashaya, Soul of the Wild is fundamentally a Commander card: powerful, slow, and built for synergy over raw rate.
