Ajani's Presence card art
Ajani's Presence gives one or more creatures indestructible until end of turn — stave off a board wipe, protect a key attacker, or keep a combo piece alive through targeted removal. The strive mechanic scales the cost with your board, which is exactly why Feather, the Redeemed runs it: she returns it to hand every turn, turning a one-shot protection spell into a recurring engine piece that also triggers Toralf, God of Fury // Toralf's Hammer's damage-redirect if something would die anyway.

Feather, the Redeemed returns Ajani's Presence to hand at end of turn whenever it targets one of your creatures, converting a single protection spell into a permanent loop of protection and ETB-style value — cheap enough to cast every turn without falling behind on mana.

In Commander, Ajani's Presence earns its slot almost exclusively in Feather, the Redeemed decks, where the recursion engine makes a cheap strive spell effectively infinite. Outside that shell it's too narrow — most Commander decks want protection spells that also draw cards or have broader range. In Pauper it sees fringe play in white heroic builds, where strive lets you trigger multiple creatures on one spell for minimal investment. Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer have faster, more versatile protection options that make Ajani's Presence a nonstarted outside of dedicated heroic strategies. The card is legal everywhere relevant, but outside Pauper and Feather specifically, better options exist at the same mana cost.

Price Context

Current price

$0.25 bulk tier

At $0.25, Ajani's Presence is pure bulk — it costs less than shipping a single card and has never shown signs of climbing. Demand is narrow enough that the price is unlikely to move meaningfully in either direction, so there's no reason to hesitate on picking up copies for the decks that want it.
