Feather, the Redeemed
Legendary Creature — Angel
Flying
Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell that targets a creature you control, exile that card instead of putting it into your graveyard as it resolves. If you do, return it to your hand at the beginning of the next end step.

Feather, the Redeemed turns every cantrip and pump spell into a reusable engine — cast a spell targeting one of your creatures, and it comes back to hand at end of turn instead of hitting the graveyard, generating card advantage every single combat step. The cost is deck construction: you're building around instants that target your own creatures, which narrows your spell suite considerably and makes Feather, the Redeemed weaker than Sage of Hours or Hinata, Dawn-Crowned in open-ended spellslinger shells that don't want that constraint.

Hinata, Dawn-Crowned
Hinata, Dawn-Crowned discounts spells that target multiple permanents, and Feather, the Redeemed recycles those same spells back to hand — together they build a loop where cheap multi-target instants cost almost nothing and never run out.

Commander is where Feather, the Redeemed lives — it's the engine of an entire archetype built on self-targeting instants like Defiant Strike and Shelter, generating card advantage turn after turn while your opponents can't meaningfully interact with the loop short of removing Feather herself. In Pioneer and Modern, the card is legal but sees essentially no competitive play; three mana for a 3/4 with no immediate board impact is too slow for those formats, and the payoff requires too many supporting pieces. Legacy and Vintage have access to it in theory, but the power ceiling of those formats makes a recurring-cantrip engine irrelevant. Oathbreaker offers a narrower version of the Commander experience — Feather, the Redeemed works as a signature spell target there, though the 20-life starting total compresses the game before the engine fully assembles.

$0.80 bulk tier
At $0.80, Feather, the Redeemed is bulk despite being the centerpiece of a legitimate Commander archetype — heavy supply from multiple printings has kept the price flat. It's a safe pickup at this price; the card isn't going to spike, but it also won't get cheaper.
