Teferi's Protection + Spellbinder
2-card combo · W
Verdict
Yes — this 2-card loop locks the table out of interacting with you on every opponent's turn for the rest of the game.

Spellbinder imprints Teferi's Protection and fires a free copy every time the equipped creature connects; all permanents phase out, the life total freezes, and protection from everything covers any gap. The lock is soft in one specific way: it requires a creature that can reliably deal combat damage, so evasion on the attacker — flying, unblockable, shadow — is the real prerequisite, not just the equipment.
Recipe
How it works
01
Prerequisites
Spellbinder attached to a creature that can attack this turn and that cannot be blocked and killed by an opponent.
02
Steps
- Deal combat damage to an opponent using the creature that has Spellbinder attached.
- Spellbinder triggers, casting a copy of Teferi's Protection without paying its mana cost.
- Resolve the copy of Teferi's Protection, phasing out all permanents you control and causing you to have protection from everything and preventing your life total from changing until your next turn.
- Repeat during each of your turns.
03
Result
Permanents you control phase out during your opponents' turns; You have protection from everything during your opponents' turns; Your life total can't change during your opponents' turns; Lock
Variations
Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines
Bruna, Light of Alabaster is the canonical carrier, fetching Spellbinder directly from the graveyard and carrying it into attacks with built-in protection. There is no cheaper alternative to Teferi's Protection that replicates phasing all permanents; the lock lives or dies on that card staying imprinted, so graveyard hate that exiles the imprinted card dissolves the engine entirely.
