Zirda, the Dawnwaker + Sunforger + Unexpected Windfall + Jeska's Will + Soldevi Digger

5-card combo · RW

Verdict

Yes — this 5-piece Sunforger loop generates near-infinite red mana and card draw in Boros, but the setup requirement of an opponent holding six or more cards is a real constraint that puts the combo on their schedule, not yours.

Zirda, the Dawnwaker reduces Sunforger's equip cost to 1 and Soldevi Digger's activation to 2, which is what makes the recycling loop affordable. Each cycle fetches Jeska's Will for at least six red, then Unexpected Windfall to draw two and produce two Treasures that fund Soldevi Digger's double activation to reload the library — the loop nets mana and cards every pass. The whole engine lives in Boros Sunforger piles, where the package doubles as a toolbox for the first several turns before collapsing into the combo.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

An opponent has six or more cards in hand.

02

Steps

  1. Activate Sunforger by paying {R}{W} and unattaching it, searching your library for Jeska's Will and casting it without paying its mana cost, adding at least six {R}.
  2. Activate Sunforger's equip ability by paying {1}, attaching it to Zirda.
  3. Activate Sunforger by paying {R}{W} and unattaching it, searching your library for Unexpected Windfall and casting it without paying its mana cost and discarding a card.
  4. Resolve Unexpected Windfall, causing you to draw two cards and create two Treasures.
  5. Activate Sunforger's equip ability by paying {1}, attaching it to Zirda.
  6. Activate Soldevi Digger twice by paying {2}, putting Unexpected Windfall and Jeska's Will from your graveyard onto the bottom of your library.
  7. Activate two Treasures by tapping and sacrificing them, adding {W}{W}.
  8. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite draw triggers; Near-infinite storm count; Near-infinite self-discard triggers; Near-infinite magecraft triggers; Near-infinite card draw; Near-infinite red mana

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

The opponent's hand-size gate on Jeska's Will is the shakiest piece — if that condition isn't met, the loop doesn't generate enough red to sustain itself, so build around it by running effects like Howling Mine or Jace Beleren that pad opponent hand sizes. Aetherflux Reservoir or Grapeshot closes the near-infinite storm count; without a dedicated outlet the engine draws the deck but leaves the kill floating.
