Jeska's Will card art
Jeska's Will is one of the most explosive rituals in Commander — cast with a commander in play, it routinely produces six or more mana and refills your hand with three free casts off the top, all for two red mana. Underworld Breach into Jeska's Will is the kind of line that ends games on the spot, and Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh // Silas Renn, Seeker Adept runs it in over 91% of decks for exactly that reason.

Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh // Silas Renn, Seeker Adept

91.6% of decks · synergy 0.75

Rograkh, Son of Rohgahh // Silas Renn, Seeker Adept costs zero mana, meaning Jeska's Will resolves on turn two with a commander already in play — that's up to six mana and three free spell casts before most tables have even developed.

02
Storm, Force of Nature

Storm, Force of Nature

81.0% of decks · synergy 0.64

Storm, Force of Nature cares about casting as many spells as possible in a single turn, and Jeska's Will provides both the mana to chain spells and additional casts from the top of the library, compounding the storm count in one shot.

03
Faldorn, Dread Wolf Herald

Faldorn, Dread Wolf Herald

72.5% of decks · synergy 0.56

Faldorn, Dread Wolf Herald triggers off spells cast from exile, so the three free casts Jeska's Will produces from the top of your library aren't just acceleration — each one creates a 2/2 Wolf token.

04

Etali, Primal Conqueror

64.1% of decks · synergy 0.48

Getting Etali, Primal Conqueror onto the battlefield faster is the whole game, and Jeska's Will can produce the mana to hard-cast or reanimate it several turns ahead of schedule.

05

Ral, Monsoon Mage

72.1% of decks · synergy 0.43

Ral, Monsoon Mage wants to cast instants and sorceries at high velocity, and Jeska's Will delivers both extra mana and extra spell casts in a single line, accelerating the flip condition and fueling whatever comes after.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict
commander
legacy
modern
pioneer

vintage

oathbreaker

Commander is the unambiguous home for Jeska's Will — the card is literally designed around the zone and mechanic that only exists in that format, and its power scales directly with how early your commander hits the table. In Legacy and Vintage, it's technically legal but sees no play; those formats have access to fast mana and card advantage that doesn't require a commander in play, and a conditional ritual that needs a specific game state can't compete with Lotus Petal or Lion's Eye Diamond lines. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander format where it occasionally shows up, since the signature spell and planeswalker structure means your commander-equivalent is in the zone more reliably.

Budget Alternatives

Cheaper options that do most of the same work

There is no true budget replacement for Jeska's Will — the combination of mana production and free spell casts on a single card is unique. Seething Song gets you five red mana for three mana with no conditions attached, which covers the ritual half at a fraction of the cost, and Commune with Lava or Outpost Siege can approximate the card access half; running both together gets you closer to what Jeska's Will does in one card, at the cost of two slots and less explosive ceiling.

Price Context

Current price

$51.13 premium tier

At $51.13, Jeska's Will sits firmly in the premium tier — you're paying for a card that routinely reads as a two-mana "win the game" in the right shell. It has been reprinted before and could come down with another reprint, but its power level keeps demand high enough that it hasn't stayed cheap for long.
