Super-Skrull + Smothering Tithe + Illusionist's Bracers

3-card combo · WUBRG

Verdict

Yes — this 3-card loop converts Smothering Tithe's tax into infinite Treasures by repeatedly forcing an opponent to draw with Super-Skrull's fourth ability through Illusionist's Bracers.

Super-Skrull's fourth ability costs 5U and forces an opponent to draw four cards; Illusionist's Bracers copies that activation, doubling the draws and doubling the Smothering Tithe triggers. Against an opponent who can't pay the Tithe tax, eight triggers produce eight Treasure tokens per loop iteration, and sacrificing six of them refunds the activation cost exactly, netting two Treasures per cycle. The combo sits in any 5-color shell that runs Smothering Tithe — Kenrith, the Returned King and Najeela, the Blade-Blossom lists are the natural homes.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

An opponent cannot pay for Smothering Tithe's trigger more than two times. If the opponent can pay for Smothering Tithe's trigger more times, you can still perform the combo if you have enough mana to outlast their mana supply. You can also continue this combo for other opponents if mana allows. The extra mana can be used to activate any of Super-Skrull's abilities.

02

Steps

  1. Activate Super-Skrull's fourth ability by paying {5}{U}, targeting an opponent.
  2. Illusionist's Bracers triggers, copying Super-Skrull's ability, targeting the same opponent.
  3. Resolve the first Super-Skrull ability, causing the opponent to draw four cards.
  4. Smothering Tithe triggers four times, causing you to create a Treasure token for each time the opponent cannot pay for the trigger.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the other Super-Skrull ability.
  6. Activate six Treasures by tapping and sacrificing them, adding {5}{U}.
  7. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite card draw for any number of opponents; Infinite draw triggers for any number of opponents; Near-infinite ETB; Near-infinite Treasure tokens; Near-infinite card draw; Near-infinite colored mana; Near-infinite creature tokens; Near-infinite draw triggers; Near-infinitely large creature until end of turn

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

If an opponent can pay the Smothering Tithe trigger more than twice per cycle, the loop still runs but requires enough starting mana to outlast their available white mana — it's a liability worth knowing before committing. The near-infinite Treasures enable any mana sink as the closer: Walking Ballista, Exsanguinate, or Torment of Hailfire all end the game from there. There is no cheaper functional substitute for Illusionist's Bracers here since the entire engine depends on copying the activated ability.
