Karn's Bastion replaces the time counter Idris loses at upkeep, keeping the vanishing clock from ever running out and locking the loop open indefinitely — but the whole engine requires an opponent unable to block, which is the real ask.

When Idris enters the battlefield, it triggers, exiling Medomai the Ageless until Idris leaves the battlefield.
Move to your extra turn.
At the beginning of your upkeep, Idris's vanishing ability triggers, removing a time counter from it.
Activate Karn's Bastion's second ability by paying and tapping it, putting a time counter on Idris.
Deal combat damage to an opponent using Idris.

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Reconnaissance or Maze of Ith can protect attackers but won't satisfy the unblockable prerequisite on their own — Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive or Archetype of Imagination are cleaner ways to guarantee both Medomai and Idris connect. Transmogrifying Licid is listed as a combo piece but its role is narrower than it appears; if the goal is simply sustaining Idris's time counters, a second proliferate source like Contaminant Grafter frees up the slot.
