Aluren makes Saffi Eriksdotter free to cast, so after Phyrexian Altar cashes in Eternal Witness for one mana, Saffi's trigger returns Witness from the graveyard and Witness's ETB puts Saffi back to hand — the loop costs zero net mana after setup. Green-White Aristocrats commanders like Ghave, Guru of Spores or Saffi Eriksdotter herself in the command zone assemble the four pieces naturally; Eternal Witness doubling as a tutor-target-recursive piece means the loop self-assembles once one piece is found.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

02

Steps

  1. Activate Saffi by sacrificing it, targeting Eternal Witness.
  2. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Eternal Witness, adding one mana of any color.
  3. When Eternal Witness dies, Saffi triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield.
  4. When Eternal Witness enters the battlefield, it triggers, returning Saffi from your graveyard to your hand.
  5. Cast Saffi by paying {0} due to Aluren.
  6. Repeat.

Result

Infinite colored mana; Infinite death triggers; Infinite ETB; Infinite LTB; Infinite sacrifice triggers; Infinite storm count

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Renegade Rallier can substitute for Saffi as a loop enabler in revolt-enabled shells, though the setup becomes more conditional. Once the loop is running, Altar of Dementia mills libraries, Impact Tremors or Zulaport Cutthroat closes the game on death triggers — the engine is infinite, but a damage or mill sink needs to already be on the battlefield.
