Followed Footsteps on Eternal Witness creates a new Witness token at each upkeep; that token's ETB returns Time Warp from the graveyard, and casting it for 3UU restarts the cycle. The table sees the lock close the moment Followed Footsteps resolves on Eternal Witness and Time Warp hits the graveyard — there is no catching up after that.

Recipe

How it works

Followed Footsteps attached to Eternal Witness.

02

Steps

  1. Cast Time Warp by paying {3}{U}{U}, taking an extra turn after this one.
  2. Move to your next turn.
  3. At the beginning of your upkeep, Followed Footsteps triggers, creating a copy of Eternal Witness.
  4. Eternal Witness enters the battlefield, returning Time Warp from your graveyard to your hand.
  5. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite creature tokens; Infinite turns; Lock

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Strionic Resonator can copy the Followed Footsteps trigger if the enchantment is disrupted and the combo needs a bridge turn. Any extra-turn spell with the same cost or cheaper — Capture of Jingzhou, Temporal Manipulation — substitutes for Time Warp directly; the engine cares only that the spell ends up in the graveyard at upkeep.
