Super-Skrull + Smothering Tithe + Elspeth, Storm Slayer

3-card combo · WUBRG

Verdict

Yes — this 3-card loop generates near-infinite Treasures and card draw by forcing an opponent to draw four and collecting on every Smothering Tithe trigger they can't pay.

Super-Skrull's fourth ability costs 5U and makes one opponent draw four cards; Smothering Tithe triggers once per draw, and an opponent who can't pay the W tax hands over two Treasure tokens each time. Six Treasures cover the next activation cost exactly, so the loop sustains itself indefinitely as long as the targeted opponent keeps failing to pay. Elspeth, Storm Slayer sits at the top of this shell as the commander, making the combo legal and threatening a near-infinitely large attacking creature as the natural closer.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

An opponent cannot pay for Smothering Tithe's trigger more than once. If the opponent can pay for Smothering Tithe's trigger more times, you can still perform the combo if you have enough mana to outlast their mana supply. You can also continue this combo for other opponents if mana allows. The extra mana can be used to activate any of Super-Skrull's abilities.

02

Steps

  1. Activate Super-Skrull's fourth ability by paying {5}{U}, causing an opponent to draw four cards.
  2. Smothering Tithe triggers four times, causing you to create two Treasure tokens for each time the opponent cannot pay for the trigger.
  3. Activate six Treasures by tapping and sacrificing them, adding {5}{U}.
  4. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite card draw for any number of opponents; Infinite draw triggers for any number of opponents; Near-infinite ETB; Near-infinite Treasure tokens; Near-infinite card draw; Near-infinite colored mana; Near-infinite creature tokens; Near-infinite draw triggers; Near-infinitely large creature until end of turn

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

The loop's hard dependency is Smothering Tithe surviving to create Treasures — destroy it and the engine collapses immediately, so artifact protection or a recursive backup like Refurbish is worth including. Rhystic Study doesn't replace Smothering Tithe here since the Treasure income is the fuel source, not card advantage. If mana outpaces the kill, pair the Treasure overflow with Revel in Riches as an alternate win condition rather than relying solely on Super-Skrull's combat pump.
