Frostcliff Siege is the engine's spine, but the loop itself runs on two mana per cycle: Ashnod's Altar converts Eternal Witness into two colorless, Pitiless Plunderer converts each death into a Treasure, and those Treasures pay the black to activate and recast Doomed Necromancer, who pulls Witness back. Eternal Witness then returns Doomed Necromancer to hand on entry, resetting the entire chain. Any commander that can field green and black and wants a self-sustaining death trigger engine — Meren of Clan Nel Toth, Izoni, Thousand-Eyed, or Lathril, Blade of the Elves as a stretch — can house this.
