Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward + Splash Portal + Eternal Witness

3-card combo · GWU

Verdict

Yes — this 3-card loop generates infinite ETB and LTB triggers plus a growing army of 1/1 Soldier tokens in any Bant shell that can fund Splash Portal each cycle.

Splash Portal blinks Abdel Adrian, which returns Eternal Witness and the exiled mana producers to the battlefield; Eternal Witness recovers Splash Portal from the graveyard, and Abdel Adrian's trigger exiles them all again while minting a Soldier token for each permanent eaten. The loop requires mana-producing nonland permanents — mana dorks like Elvish Mystic or rocks like Arcane Signet — that can collectively pay Splash Portal's cost after untapping from the blink. Bant creature-storm decks running Abdel Adrian as the commander are the natural home.

Recipe

How it works

01

Prerequisites

You have any number of other nonland permanents that enter the battlefield untapped, and that can collectively tap to produce enough mana to cast Splash Portal exiled by Abdel Adrian. Eternal Witness exiled by Abdel Adrian. You have enough mana to cast Splash Portal.

02

Steps

  1. Cast Splash Portal by paying its mana cost, blinking Abdel Adrian.
  2. Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, returning Eternal Witness and all other cards that were exiled with it to the battlefield.
  3. Abdel Adrian and Eternal Witness trigger.
  4. Resolve the Eternal Witness trigger, returning Splash Portal from your graveyard to your hand.
  5. Holding priority, activate any number of nonland permanents you control by tapping them, adding at least enough mana to cast Splash Portal.
  6. Resolve the Abdel Adrian trigger, exiling Eternal Witness and the mana-producing permanents until Abdel Adrian leaves the battlefield, and creating a 1/1 Soldier creature token for each permanent exiled this way.
  7. Repeat.

03

Result

Infinite LTB; Infinite ETB; Infinite storm count; Infinite creature tokens; Infinite blinking of nonland permanents; Infinite magecraft triggers

Variations

Cheaper, tighter, alternate lines

Conjurer's Closet or any repeatable blink effect won't substitute for Splash Portal here since the loop depends on instant-speed blinking to hold priority for tapping mana producers before Abdel Adrian's exile trigger resolves. The infinite tokens close the game immediately with an Altar of Dementia or Impact Tremors already on board; without a damage or mill outlet, the tokens still win in combat but not on the spot. Any tutor that finds instants — Mystical Tutor, Spellseeker — fetches the Splash Portal half reliably.
