Vraska's Stoneglare turns a creature into stone permanently — exile with a Gorgon flavor, no graveyard recursion to worry about — for five mana at sorcery speed. That price tag is the whole problem; most Commander decks want exile removal that costs three or less, and Outrider en-Kor doesn't make the cut either at five, so Vraska's Stoneglare sits at the bottom of the pile unless you're specifically building around Gorgon tribal or Vraska herself.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Vraska's Stoneglare is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but sees essentially no competitive play in any of them. In Modern and Pioneer, five-mana sorcery removal is nearly unplayable — Bloodchief's Thirst, Damn, and Fatal Push handle threats for a fraction of the cost. In Legacy and Vintage, the format's speed makes this dead on arrival. Commander is the only real home, and even there it competes against Swords to Plowshares, Path to Exile, and Generous Gift — all of which cost one mana and function at instant speed. Vraska's Stoneglare earns a slot only in heavily theme-locked Gorgon or Vraska builds where flavor is part of the brief.

Price Context
Current price
$0.17 bulk tier
At $0.17, Vraska's Stoneglare is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not power. Don't expect the price to move; niche tribal appeal isn't enough to push a slow, expensive removal spell out of the bulk bin.
