The Mirari Conjecture card art
The Mirari Conjecture gives you three chapters of escalating spell value — first reclaiming instants and sorceries from your graveyard, then copying every instant and sorcery you cast, and finally becoming a repeatable engine if you move its lore counters with Nesting Grounds before the final chapter resolves. Three chapters for five mana is a real ask, but any deck that survives to the payoff gets embarrassingly ahead.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

Commander is where The Mirari Conjecture actually lives — the format's slower clock gives it time to tick through all three chapters, and a singleton graveyard full of instants and sorceries means each chapter recurs something relevant. Competitive Commander tables will kill it before chapter three, so treat it as a value piece rather than a combo anchor unless you have protection. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's a five-mana enchantment that doesn't affect the board immediately, which is a death sentence in those formats — faster threats close games before chapter two ever triggers. Oathbreaker is a reasonable home if your signature spell is an instant or sorcery you want copied repeatedly.

Price Context

Current price

$0.41 bulk tier

At $0.41, The Mirari Conjecture is deep bulk — a near-zero pickup for any spellslinger Commander deck. Bulk rares with niche-but-genuine combo potential tend to stay cheap indefinitely, so there's no urgency beyond just grabbing one the next time you place an order.
