In Oathbreaker it can serve as the signature spell in a planeswalker-heavy build, though the format's faster pace makes the cost feel heavier. Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer are legal on paper but irrelevant in practice: nothing in those formats wants a six-mana planeswalker that doesn't close the game on the spot, and The Chain Veil is far too slow to assemble there.
