Steel of the Godhead card art
Steel of the Godhead puts lifelink and unblockability on the same aura for three mana — that combination closes games fast on any blue-white creature. Bruna, Light of Alabaster makes it even better, fetching it directly onto herself during combat and turning every attack into guaranteed damage plus life.

Commander is where Steel of the Godhead does its best work — blue-white enchantress and Voltron decks both want the lifelink-plus-unblockability package at this price point, and the tutoring synergy with commanders like Bruna and Zur means it frequently comes down for free. In Pauper it's a legitimate threat on any evasive blue-white creature and sees occasional play in tempo or aura strategies where the card-disadvantage of an aura is offset by the sheer two-keyword efficiency. Legacy and Vintage are legal formats but Steel of the Godhead is too slow and too narrow to compete there — three mana for a non-cantripping aura doesn't cut it when those formats end games before it matters.

Price Context

Current price

$2.12 cheap tier

At $2.12, Steel of the Godhead is cheap for what it does — a two-keyword aura with this much Commander-specific synergy typically costs more. That price is stable; it's not a card that spikes, but it's not going to get cheaper either.
