Spirit Link turns any attacking creature into a life buffer, and at one mana it's one of the cheapest ways to do it in white. In Eriette of the Charmed Apple decks it's not even primarily about the life — it's an aura that sits on an opponent's creature, draining them every time they swing.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Eriette of the Charmed Apple
Eriette of the Charmed Apple wants Spirit Link on an opponent's creature: every attack they make pays you life while Eriette's static ability drains them simultaneously, creating a punishing double-dip that discourages combat entirely.

Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice
Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice fetches any aura when an aura enters attached to a creature it controls, so Spirit Link is a one-mana tutor trigger — you play it for the chain, not the lifegain.

Killian, Decisive Mentor
Killian, Decisive Mentor reduces the cost of spells that target creatures, making Spirit Link effectively free, and every cheap aura Killian enables is another opportunity to pile on a creature he's already buffing.

Pearl-Ear, Imperial Advisor
Pearl-Ear, Imperial Advisor cares about Foxes and aura synergies, and Spirit Link is a one-drop that slots cleanly into the low-curve aura package Pearl-Ear rewards with card advantage.

Ragost, Deft Gastronaut
Ragost, Deft Gastronaut triggers off enchantments and low-cost permanents entering the battlefield, so Spirit Link is a cheap ping on the enchantment count while simultaneously keeping Ragost's pilot alive long enough to close the game.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Spirit Link is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, though outside Commander it rarely sees competitive play — one-mana lifelink auras simply don't do enough in formats where tempo is everything. In Pauper it shows up occasionally in white lifegain shells that want redundancy alongside Lifelink, but it's a fringe inclusion at best. Commander is where Spirit Link actually earns its slot: the multiplayer environment makes life totals matter more, aura-matters commanders treat it as a free chain piece, and putting it on an opponent's threat converts their biggest attacker into a liability.

Price Context
Current price
unknown tier
Pricing data for Spirit Link isn't available in this snapshot, but it's a long-reprinted common that historically sits well under a dollar in most printings — pick it up out of a bulk bin rather than ordering it individually. The most premium versions carry a modest premium for foil or older border treatments, but for gameplay purposes any copy does the job.
