Lifelink turns any creature into a life-gain engine for a single white mana, and on something like Phyrexian Colossus that translates to enormous life swings every attack. The ceiling is real, but a one-mana aura that vanishes to any removal spell targeting the enchanted creature is a fragile way to build a strategy — run it when the payoff is immediate, not when it's the plan.

Ragost, Deft Gastronaut
Ragost, Deft Gastronaut triggers off life gain, so slapping Lifelink on any attacker converts combat damage directly into the resource Ragost wants — each swing becomes both a clock and an engine activation.

In Commander, Lifelink is a role-player rather than a staple — it earns its slot when a commander has explicit life-gain synergies, and Ragost, Deft Gastronaut is the clearest current example. In Legacy and Vintage it sees essentially no play; efficient threats already outclass a one-mana aura that offers no protection. Pauper is where Lifelink occasionally surfaces, slowing aggressive matchups on a relevant blocker or racing back against burn. Across all formats, the verdict is the same: Lifelink is a synergy piece, not a standalone card.

$0.33 bulk tier
At $0.33, Lifelink sits squarely in bulk territory — easy to acquire, easy to throw in a life-gain deck without thinking twice about the budget. Bulk commons and enchantments at this price point don't appreciate, so pick it up for the synergy and not for any other reason.
