Soul Snare sits on the battlefield and threatens to exile any attacking creature for a single white mana — that threat alone redirects combat math before you ever pop it. It's the cleanest one-mana deterrent white gets, and Nelly Borca, Impulsive Accuser decks run it precisely because forcing attacks into unfavorable blocks is the whole game.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Nelly Borca, Impulsive Accuser
Nelly Borca, Impulsive Accuser forces opponents to attack, and Soul Snare is the trap waiting at the end of that forced swing — exile the most dangerous attacker for one mana while Nelly's trigger resolves exactly as intended.

Tameshi, Reality Architect
Tameshi, Reality Architect can bounce Soul Snare back to hand and replay it for repeated deterrence, turning a one-shot enchantment into a recurring exile threat that only costs mana to reset.

Lurrus of the Dream-Den
Soul Snare costs one mana, making it a legal Lurrus of the Dream-Den recursion target — cast it from the graveyard every turn cycle and maintain a permanent exile threat at negligible cost.

Kangee, Sky Warden
Kangee, Sky Warden is a go-wide flicker and combat deck that needs cheap ground-level answers, and Soul Snare covers the non-flying threats that slip under a board of birds without eating a card slot on a hard removal spell.

Daxos the Returned
Daxos the Returned counts every enchantment cast for experience counters, and Soul Snare is a one-mana enchantment that pulls double duty — it ticks the counter and polices the most dangerous attacker at the same time.
Format Analysis

Commander is where Soul Snare earns its slot: enchantment-matters synergies, recursion loops, and the political pressure of a visible exile threat all play better in a multiplayer game where you need to survive three opponents' combat steps. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but invisible — one-mana conditional removal that requires the creature to attack is far too slow against the threats those formats present. Modern has Path to Exile and Prismatic Ending, both of which answer creatures proactively rather than reactively, so Soul Snare doesn't compete. Oathbreaker mirrors the Commander logic closely enough that the same enchantment-synergy shells can leverage it the same way.

$0.40 bulk tier
At $0.40, Soul Snare is bulk — grab a copy out of any dollar bin without thinking twice. Bulk enchantments with niche Commander synergy tend to stay flat unless a new commander spikes demand, so there's no urgency beyond just picking one up when you need it.
