Savor the Moment gives you an extra turn for three mana — the catch is no untap step, which matters far less in decks that generate value on opponents' turns or already have untap effects like Wilderness Reclamation on board. In Myra the Magnificent and similar spell-chaining commanders, the extra combat and draw step alone justify the slot.

Myra the Magnificent
Myra the Magnificent cares about casting instants and sorceries in sequence, and Savor the Moment delivers an extra draw step and main phase to chain more spells without demanding a full untap — exactly the kind of tempo burst Myra's engine wants.

Commander is where Savor the Moment earns its keep: the skipped untap step is a real cost in fair decks, but extra-turn commanders, Seedborn Muse effects, and untap-on-upkeep permanents shrug it off entirely. In Legacy and Vintage, it's legal but outclassed — three mana for a conditional extra turn is too slow when Time Walk exists at two and the format demands harder threats. Modern sees almost no play for the same reason: the untap restriction pushes it out of any shell that could actually close a game with the tempo. Oathbreaker is the one other 60-card-adjacent format where Savor the Moment sees genuine use, particularly under planeswalker commanders who activate at sorcery speed and don't care about untapping creatures.

Cheaper options that do most of the same work
If the skipped-untap restriction is already acceptable, Part the Waterveil is the closest functional substitute — it costs six mana but awakens a land, and in ramp-heavy Commander decks the extra cost is manageable. Temporal Trespass is another option through delve, often castable for three or four mana in the mid-game, though it exiles itself so it can't be recurred the way Savor the Moment can with graveyard loops.
Price Context
Current price
$8.75 mid tier
At $8.75, Savor the Moment sits in the mid tier — expensive enough to feel like a deliberate include, cheap enough that it's not a budget-breaker. It's a single-printing casual card with a narrow home, so price movement tends to be slow and driven almost entirely by Commander demand rather than competitive spillover.
