Repudiate // Replicate card art
Repudiate // Replicate pulls double duty: Repudiate stops triggered and activated abilities on the stack — planeswalker ultimates, Aetherflux Reservoir kills, Necropotence triggers — while Replicate is a two-mana copy spell that goes infinite with Dualcaster Mage and slots cleanly into any token-doubling shell helmed by Adrix and Nev, Twincasters. Two relevant halves at a combined casting cost of two or three mana each is exactly the kind of modal efficiency Commander rewards.

Commanders with the highest synergy

02
Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief

Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief

16.9% of decks · synergy 0.15

Ivy, Gleeful Spellthief copies any single-target spell aimed at opponents, which means Replicate targeting your own spell can trigger Ivy and flood the board; Repudiate // Replicate gives the deck both a proactive engine piece and a surprise answer to activated abilities in the same card.

03
Riku of Two Reflections

Riku of Two Reflections

9.4% of decks · synergy 0.09

Riku of Two Reflections pays to copy instants and sorceries, so Replicate on almost any spell of consequence becomes a three-for-one; Repudiate // Replicate earns its slot because the Repudiate half also protects Riku himself from tap or sacrifice abilities that would otherwise disrupt the copy engine.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict

Commander is where Repudiate // Replicate earns its keep — the format is saturated with triggered abilities worth stopping (combo ultimates, Thassa's Oracle triggers, Smothering Tithe triggers) and copy spells that enable infinite loops, making both halves live in virtually every game. In Modern and Pioneer the card sees fringe play at best; dedicated counter-magic is cheaper and more consistent, and the copy half rarely has a clean home outside of specific spellslinger brews. Legacy and Vintage have access to strictly more efficient interaction at every point on the curve, so Repudiate // Replicate doesn't compete there. The split card's real home is and will remain 100-card singleton, where flexibility is taxed less and the right half always matters.
