Regal Caracal lands and immediately hands every Cat you control +1/+1 and lifelink — on a five-mana 3/3 that also makes two 1/1 Cats, that's a board-wide upgrade the moment it resolves. The cost is real: five mana is slow enough that Arahbo, the First Fang decks need a clear runway, but the payoff with recursion pieces like Nim Deathmantle turns one removal spell into a non-answer.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Arahbo, the First Fang
Arahbo, the First Fang is the premier home for Regal Caracal — the lifelink anthem stacks directly with Arahbo, the First Fang's own power-scaling effects, and the two entering Cats give you immediate fodder for triggered abilities on the same turn it resolves.

Arahbo, Roar of the World
Regal Caracal slots into Arahbo, Roar of the World as a force-multiplier: every Cat that benefits from Arahbo, Roar of the World's eminence pump also inherits lifelink from the Caracal, turning each combat swing into a life-total cushion.

Rin and Seri, Inseparable
Rin and Seri, Inseparable wants Cat density above almost everything else, and Regal Caracal delivers two bodies on entry while buffing every Cat already on board — more Cats means more triggers, and the lifelink keeps you alive long enough to convert them.
Ajani, Nacatl Pariah
Ajani, Nacatl Pariah cares deeply about the Cat type, and Regal Caracal's anthem effect turns the small tokens Ajani, Nacatl Pariah generates into credible threats with incidental lifegain attached.

Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist
Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist restricts opponent attacks, and Regal Caracal's board-wide lifelink rewards the aggressive Cat swings that Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist enables — the synergy is shallower here, but any white Cat tribal shell will find the slot justifiable.

Regal Caracal is a Commander card through and through — tribal payoffs at five mana don't survive the speed of competitive Constructed, and Cat tribal has never been a real presence in Modern or Pioneer. In Standard-legal windows it occasionally sees casual play when Cats are well-supported, but it rarely breaks into serious event lists at any non-rotating level. Commander is where it earns its keep: the combination of anthem, lifelink grant, and immediate token production is the kind of multi-function five-drop that tribal decks actively want, and the critical mass of Cat commanders makes the card easy to slot.
