Professional Face-Breaker turns combat damage into a treasure flood and then cashes those treasures for card advantage — two distinct engines stapled to a three-mana 2/2 with menace. Treasure-matter commanders like Jolene, the Plunder Queen and attack-first shells like Najeela, the Blade-Blossom run it because it converts board presence into resources without asking for any extra investment.

Commanders with the highest synergy

Jolene, the Plunder Queen
Professional Face-Breaker and Jolene, the Plunder Queen are a natural pair — every treasure Professional Face-Breaker generates from combat triggers Jolene's counter-accumulation, and both cards reward the same aggressive gameplan of swinging wide and often.

Dargo, the Shipwrecker // Tymna the Weaver
Dargo, the Shipwrecker // Tymna the Weaver wants a steady stream of artifacts to keep Dargo's cost in the basement, and Professional Face-Breaker delivers treasures on every successful attack while the deck is already incentivized to push through for Tymna's card draw.

Vazi, Keen Negotiator
Vazi, Keen Negotiator distributes counters and treasures to opponents as a political engine, and Professional Face-Breaker slots in as the aggressive counterpart — it punishes anyone who swings back by converting their attacks into more resources for you.

Muddle, the Ever-Changing
Muddle, the Ever-Changing builds around adapting to board states and accumulating value, and Professional Face-Breaker provides the on-demand treasure generation that fuels Muddle's mana-hungry activations and enables flexible resource conversion mid-combat.

Vihaan, Goldwaker
Vihaan, Goldwaker animates treasures into attacking creatures, and Professional Face-Breaker accelerates that engine by minting new treasures each time any creature connects — the two cards create a self-reinforcing loop where more treasures mean more attackers mean more treasures.

Commander is where Professional Face-Breaker earns its keep — the multiplayer format guarantees multiple opponents to hit, which means the treasure triggers stack fast and the exile-and-spend ability turns a wide board into a continuous card draw engine. In competitive EDH, the three-mana cost and reliance on combat damage are real constraints, but in mid-power treasure and go-wide pods it overperforms its price tag. Modern and Pioneer lists occasionally test it in aggressive red shells, but those formats move too fast for a 2/2 that needs to connect before it does anything, and the payoff is too slow compared to purpose-built aggro threats. Legacy and Vintage have access to the full card pool, so Professional Face-Breaker doesn't see serious play there. Oathbreaker mirrors the Commander logic at a smaller scale — if your planeswalker cares about treasures or combat, it fits.
