Pariah card art
Pariah redirects all damage dealt to enchanted creature to its controller instead — staple it on an indestructible creature and you have a hard lock that shuts down combat and burn simultaneously. Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer and Stuffy Doll are the canonical hosts, turning a three-mana aura into a permanent damage nullifier that opponents must answer with removal or lose.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer

Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer

90.1% of decks · synergy 0.82

Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer has indestructible built in, so Pariah on him means all damage to you routes through him and hits zero — he's literally purpose-built for this enchantment, which explains the 90% inclusion rate.

02
Jared Carthalion, True Heir

Jared Carthalion, True Heir

75.4% of decks · synergy 0.74

Jared Carthalion, True Heir wants to absorb damage to load up counters and trigger his abilities, and Pariah funnels every combat hit through him on demand, accelerating the counter accumulation while keeping your life total intact.

03
Piru, the Volatile

Piru, the Volatile

31.6% of decks · synergy 0.31

Piru, the Volatile is a massive lifelinker who can take hits, and Pariah centralizes all incoming damage onto her so the lifelink payoff triggers on every point that would otherwise hit you directly.

04
Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice

Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice

38.0% of decks · synergy 0.30

Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice tutors auras directly onto the battlefield when you cast an aura, so casting any other equipment-adjacent piece can chain into Pariah for free — it's one of the most efficient routes to getting the enchantment into play.

05
Wayta, Trainer Prodigy

Wayta, Trainer Prodigy

31.6% of decks · synergy 0.30

Wayta, Trainer Prodigy cares about creatures with power sharing and damage redirection effects, and Pariah slotting onto a sturdy blocker fits neatly into the damage-manipulation gameplan Wayta already wants to assemble.

Format Analysis

oathbreaker

Commander is where Pariah lives — the multiplayer environment means opponents constantly have must-attack threats or burn spells, and a well-placed Pariah on an indestructible creature shuts down entire archetypes at the table. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but sees essentially no competitive play; three mana for a situational aura is too slow against cantrip-dense, combo-heavy fields where opponents simply counter it or ignore the enchanted creature. Modern is the same story: the card exists in the card pool but has never found a competitive home because the format moves too fast for a reactive aura to stabilize a board. Pariah is a Commander card through and through.

Price Context

Current price

$1.97 cheap tier

At $1.97, Pariah sits in comfortable budget territory — it's a three-mana enchantment with a narrow but powerful effect, and that price reflects steady casual demand without any spike risk. The card is widely available across multiple printings, so the price is unlikely to move much in either direction.
