Parallax Tide card art
Parallax Tide removes up to five lands from the game — not tapped, not bounced, gone until end of turn — and the Emeria Shepherd loop means those lands never come back at all. Five mana for a repeatable mass land denial engine that wins on the spot in the right shell is the real price, not the sticker on the card.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

Commander is where Parallax Tide actually lives — the infinite loops with Emeria Shepherd and the blink synergies with Brago, King Eternal are too powerful to ignore in a format built around legendary creatures that enable them. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but sees no play; faster, more consistent mana denial exists, and a five-mana enchantment that dies to any disenchant effect doesn't compete in those formats. Oathbreaker shares Commander's singleton structure and could host the same combos, but the 20-life total and faster clock compress the window where Parallax Tide's slow fade matters.

Budget Alternatives

Cheaper options that do most of the same work

Parallax Tide's exact effect — removing opponent lands from the game on a loopable enchantment — has no direct budget replacement, but Mana Vortex and Tectonic Instability approximate the denial half at a fraction of the price, punishing land plays rather than exiling them outright. Neither enables the Emeria Shepherd loop, so if the combo is the reason you want Parallax Tide, there's no cheaper substitute that does the same work.

Price Context

Current price

$27.92 premium tier

At $27.92, Parallax Tide sits in premium territory for a card that sees play in exactly one format and only in dedicated stax or combo builds. The price reflects low reprint likelihood and a narrow but fanatical demand from Brago and Emeria Shepherd pilots — it's a real cost for a real payoff, not a card you buy speculatively.
