Overabundance card art
Overabundance doubles every player's mana production and deals damage for every land tapped — a global accelerant that doubles as a weapon in the right hands. Yurlok of Scorch Thrash is the reason this card exists in Commander; outside of that commander, you're gifting opponents mana for very little return.

72.8% of decks · synergy 0.69

Yurlok of Scorch Thrash converts every land tap into damage dealt to the player who tapped it, so Overabundance effectively doubles the rate at which Yurlok bleeds the table — it's the single most important card in that deck, showing up in nearly 73% of lists.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

oathbreaker

Overabundance is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but Commander is the only format where it sees real play. In Legacy and Vintage, the symmetrical mana doubling is far too dangerous in a field of degenerate fast mana and Storm — you're more likely to kill yourself than your opponent. Commander is its home because Yurlok of Scorch Thrash turns the symmetry into a one-sided punishment, and multiplayer tables give the damage more targets to compound against. In Oathbreaker it's technically usable but the 20-life starting total and faster game pace mean the symmetry gets punishing quickly without the right planeswalker to exploit it.

Budget Alternatives

Cheaper options that do most of the same work

Mana Flare and Dictate of Karametra both double opponents' mana without the damage rider, making them weaker in Yurlok builds but serviceable if you just want global ramp in a group hug shell — Mana Flare in particular runs well under a dollar. Overabundance is the only card that staples the damage clause directly to the mana doubling, so for Yurlok specifically there's no true budget replacement, only worse approximations.

Price Context

Current price

$5.77 mid tier

At $5.77, Overabundance sits in the mid tier — reasonable for a card with a single, highly specific home. It holds value because the Yurlok of Scorch Thrash deck has no real substitute for it, but that narrow demand also caps any significant upside.
