Nissa, Who Shakes the World card art
Nissa, Who Shakes the World hits the board and immediately doubles your Forest mana, turning five lands into ten — that kind of rate at five mana is hard to argue with. Pairing her with Carth the Lion squeezes extra activations out of her loyalty counters, and her ultimate is game-ending on its own; the only real cost is that she dies to anything that touches planeswalkers before you untap.

In Commander, Nissa, Who Shakes the World is a staple — doubling Forest mana is generically powerful enough to slot into nearly any green deck, and her static ability means the value starts the turn she enters rather than a turn later. In Pioneer, she was a defining card during her Standard tenure and still sees occasional play in ramp shells that want to convert early accelerants into a fast, game-ending ultimate. Modern and Legacy have access to faster and more redundant mana engines, so Nissa faces stiff competition there and rarely makes the cut outside of dedicated Forests-matter builds. Oathbreaker is another strong home, where the more focused, smaller format lets her ultimate end games quickly.
