Marauding Raptor card art
Marauding Raptor hits the board as a cost-reducer and damage dealer in one, shaving a generic mana off every Dinosaur you cast while pinging each new Dinosaur for 2 on entry. The cost is real — that ping can kill your own creatures — but in the Polyraptor loop with Wayta, Trainer Prodigy absorbing the damage, the "downside" becomes the engine.

Marauding Raptor is a Commander card through and through — Dinosaur tribal is an archetype that only has the density and the payoffs to support it in the 100-card singleton format. In Modern and Legacy it's legal but practically invisible; two mana for a 3/3 that discounts a parasitic creature type doesn't clear the competitive bar in either format. Pioneer is the same story. The card's entire value proposition — cheap access to a repeatable cost-reducer that doubles as an enrage trigger — only pays off when you're running 20-plus Dinosaurs and commanders that reward the synergy.

Price Context

Current price

$1.40 cheap tier

At $1.40, Marauding Raptor sits at the low end of the cheap tier, which is right for a card with a narrow home but genuine combo potential inside it. It's a staple in Dinosaur decks and that demand is consistent, so don't expect it to drop further — but don't expect a spike either unless a new Dinosaur commander pushes the archetype into heavier rotation.
